This is one question that has been asked by many of my friends and also some of my readers. I really don’t know how to measure if my blog is actually doing well as I have no benchmark. I am still very new to the world of blogging and I keep discovering things almost everyday. So I thought about publishing some of my blog statistics and let my readers’ judge if I am on the right track.
My first post was in mid November last year & then I tried to come up with new articles at regular intervals. Since I did not register with any website analytics provider before mid-December it’s difficult to compare my performance month on month basis.
I registered with Hitstats.com in mid December and have been tracking my site from then. I also registered with Google analytics recently in mid January and from next month I would be using the same.
So my January statistics is as follows:
Page views: 2887
Visitors: 1028
New Visitors: 622
Page Views per Visit: 2.8
Referers:
Websites:
This lists the websites through which visitors came on my blog. I am listing top 5 of them:
Search Engines:
I got mainly traffic from google and very few from ask
A lot of searches were related to Insurance, Demat Account, Mutual Funds, ELSS
Revenues
Well I believe my blog is too new to generate any revenues. But still I am running some advertisements to see how it goes. It’s mainly for my learning purpose. I have signed up with 2 advertisements networks last month.
Infolinks: These are the green colored double underlined texts you see in my blog. If you hold your mouse on these texts a bubble pops up to display an ad. I don’t think it’s a high revenue generator but then it can run with any other advertisement. It takes around a second for the ad to load and I guess visitors are not very patient to see what ad is loading and then click on it. I registerd with the Infolinks on 10th January 2010 and for this month has generate $ 2 as revenues.
Shoogloo Network: I signed with this around 10 days back. This is mainly for websites with majority Indian viewers. It has mostly Indian clients like Policy bazaar, Indiatimes, yatra, etc and you need to display its ads on your site. Most of the clients here pay on either lead generation or % commission on actual sales. I have signed for Policy Bazaar and also got approval for Indiatimes Shopping. I would be displaying the same in few days. But as for revenues are concerned I have not made any this month.
New Features added to blog:
I have added the following new features to my blog:
Most Popular Pages

Live Traffic Feed
Still to come
Email Subscription – I am getting some issues while setting up for email subscription. Lets see how can I resolve it. IF any one can help me with this please let me know.
Comment LUV – It’s a way of rewarding your commenter. As you comment, a link to your last post in your blog is automatically generated. I am facing some problem in integrating the same in blogger. Lets see how fast I can do this.
Finally I don’t know how good or bad it is? But then it’s just the start and it inspires and encourages me to continue blogging. And I hope that I would see more participation form my readers in form of comments. So please do comment on how I can make http://www.finwinonline.com/ a better experience for you.

Hi I am following your Blog for few days now and you are doing a nice job .
ReplyDeleteFew suggestions:
-Can you remove the infolinks if possible , as they are very irritating with slower net connections
-Add a About Section on the Blog , it will help retaining 1st time visitors
-Also not sure Live Traffic Feed adds any value to the blog(not for me as a reader at-least)

ReplyDelete@ Debashish
ReplyDeleteThanks for your suggestions. I would be adding About me very soon.
I agree the Live traffic actually doesn't add much value to readers, I kept it just for my curiosity :). May be I would do away with it in next few weeks.
About the InfoLinks well let me think. Its not actually for revenue generation (2 month old blog hardly generates anything) but mainly to know how these advertisement network works.
Please continue giving your valuable feedback!

ReplyDeleteSorry Bhanu but I have to delete your comment as I don't think this is the right platform or right way to express your anger to some service provider. What I could make out was you are not satisfied with Indiatimes shopping but then there are platforms where you can write about it. And my advice - Please don't use derogatory remarks. It helps none!
